This peppermint white chocolate creamer is the perfect way to enjoy your favourite holiday coffee…
When it comes to cooking a turkey, the outside is just as important as the inside. We might pay more attention to the cavity of a turkey as that’s where most of the flavour will be coming from, but having a nice flavourful and crispy skin will really allow your turkey to soar to the next level. So don’t just rub herbs and olive oil–make a turkey glaze for your Thanksgiving bird!
In order to achieve the perfectly burnished dark brown skin that we can only admire on other people’s Instagram posts, you’ll need a sugary glaze to coat your turkey. But of course, a good turkey glaze isn’t just for looks. Try these delicious recipes that will give your bird beautiful glistening crispy skin and flavourful, juicy meat.
Try these three turkey glazes to make the perfect holiday turkey.
Brown Sugar Glaze
This brown sugar glaze is simple and quick, and you probably have all the ingredients already. For a brighter tang, replace with orange with lemon. Add everything into a saucepan over low heat and cook until the mixture reaches a thicker, syrup consistency. Remember to continually stir to avoid burning.
- 2/3 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 orange for 2 tbsp juice and ½ tsp zest
Maple Cranberry Glaze
A turkey dinner isn’t really a turkey dinner without cranberry sauce. Make some extra this time and turn it into a glaze with our beloved maple syrup! Simply mix the two ingredients and pour it over the turkey.
- 3/4 cup maple syrup
- 2/3 cup cranberry sauce
- Splash of apple cider vinegar
Apple Cider Glaze
Wine isn’t the only alcohol that’s great in cooking–seriously, there are some recipes that are meant to be cooked with beer. In the fall theme, apple ciders also add terrific flavours, and they make for amazing turkey glaze. Add all ingredients into a small saucepan and reduce until reaching a thicker consistency. Be sure to stir continuously to avoid burning.
- 1 cup unfiltered apple cider
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 stick unsalted butter, cut into tablespoons
